The Baker's Secret

Another author that I have not read before. Although I have heard him on an interview on a podcast talking about this book before and thought it would be a  interesting read.

It is very hard for me to write this review. Nothing really stood out from other books. I did feel Emma was a character of strength and not going to take any nonsense off of anyone. Even when she got beat up. Emma kept on living. To the end Emma was not giving up on helping people. The idea that she would make the bread enough to feed her community and slip not so good stuff in with soldiers was pretty brilliant. At first I didn't like how she was treating her grandmother. I got over that. It is hard to make sure a loved one is safe when they have no memory of things going on
.

I can't even imagine how she could get through that. The one thing she kept saying is that no one is coming to rescue her and her people. They did and was able to get her and her grandmother to safety.

I'll leave some highlights from kindle on Goodreads. That pretty much sums up what stood out for me.

It was a good story. I followed it through. I'm not big on war books but I gave it a shot. And glad I read it.

I give The Baker's Secret 4
