The Hundred Secret Senses

I wasn't sure if I was going to like this story. It was confusing at first with the story of the present to the stories of the past. But as I read on the story got more interesting.

I was reminded of how the Chinese people do believe of the afterlife. Of becoming someone else, reborn. Something was said about their way of expressing true love.

Question that was brought up if you knew if you were going to die, what would you change?
Something that Olivia, and Kwan were learning and teaching each other

I love how the relationship between Libby-ah and Kwan grew or was reborn ed. Sisters in every way. Libby-ah learnt her history. As she puts a hand over a soft cover journal of a life with Kwan. "Why can't they make books like this today?"

I do believe the reason of this story is not because Kwan had yin eyes, but believing love never dies. If someone we love dies, they are just lost with ordinary senses. But are found with our hundred senses. This is the secret.
And this is exactly how I feel.

Club Dead

Just finished another Sookie Stackhouse book. It was a pretty good one. I like that finally Sookie gets away from Bill. And just being with Alcide knowing that he is warmer than Bill makes it for an interesting love affair

What's up with Sookie and Eric? Hmm...

It wasn't my favorite of the stories but certainly a refreshing view of the little Miss Sookie


I give Club Dead 4 

just because it gave me a happy feeling to see Sookie interact with others than Bill

The Wenesday Sisters

I liked the book. I liked the idea that these women were friends but like sisters. Makes me wish that I had what they do. To have someone to share your life with (besides your husband) It was interesting to read how these girls got together and did what they did in the time of year when it was Beatlemania, John F. Kennedy was running for president, Martin Luther King was released from jail with Bobby Kennedy's help. With other things happening.And women were seen but not heard.

I am part of a reading group. And much like The Wednesday Sisters support and critique if asked anything we do in reading and writing.
I dabble in writing. Not very serious about it but it gives me a way to get out what and how I think in story form. I don't think you need a book deal to make it worth while. I believe as time goes by if we just don't give up on writing it is good for our soul and we do get better at it.
It makes me feel better and feel good about myself to even write. Times when reading back the writing you can find yourself. Understand your life for when writing is when something is happening and feeling at the time in your life.

What I think keeps these sisters friendships going, even in the messy of times is how they relate to each other. Everyone had a similar problem. They were on the same level and they thought what if it was me?
Another part is the book touches women empowerment. That gave the sisters something to stand up for,feel for. A man's world but women just as capable to do anything. Women have a voice just the same.

The Christmas Train

I enjoyed this book. Always like a nice Christmas book to read around the holidays. Christmas is my favorite holiday. And trains are very special to me also. It's something I shared with my dad.

I don't know what it is about trains. You don't take the trains to get somewhere fast. You take it for the journey itself. To be surprised. And I think that is why I enjoyed the characters of Tom, Eleanor, Max, and the Cap Unlimited and The Chief staff. Trains are nice over Christmas. People are in good moods. Great way for family to travel together.
I know if I had the chance that's what I would be doing. It's like people are ready to meet the country, they're looking for friendship,a warm body to talk to. How do you put a valve on that? I think you can't

Second chances for Tom and Eleanor. A wedding and a little bit of mystery. Cute for the holiday.I like the twist at the end was. A clever way of getting things done ;) Granted this is the first book of David Baldacci I read. I hear that he is a mystery writer and Christmas Train is a bit off his mark but we need a little soft around the holidays.

The short story at the end was nice. Waiting for Santa. I want to believe that there is someone that I lost looking out for me. And what better to have a daughter guide your way.

Fiddle Dee Death

I met these authors about 2 years ago at a bookcrossing convention in South Carolina. Natually I never had a author sign a book for me. So I thought it so cool that I would have this autographed copy. I never got to read it til now.

I can say this is a cute little mystery book. Just what it says, "Just a little murder"

The characters are interesting. I like how the three girls are family and the eldest member likes to get the others involved in the mystery. I especially like Lindsay. She drinks Coke as I do and loves and has a collection of stuffed animals even as a child. A girl after my own heart. Being that it is in the South you feel like your there at the plantation. It is a neat reason why everything is like a purple :)

It was though a bit difficult for me to get in the story till the six chapter. Than I found myself laughing and peeking to see what next would happen.


This is a book that will be in my permanent collection.
I give Fiddle Dee Death 4 

and am looking forward to reading the next book that Caroline Cousins reintroduce the characters again
