The Sublet is a fast, fun, and creepy short thriller about a stressed- out mom and ghostwriter named Anne. I loved her realistic view on family life: “There should be a footnote attached to my family’s definition of “mother” that states cook, housekeeper, tutor… therapist, nurse, and morality instructor.”
Anne gets hired by a toxic wellness influencer named Melody, who treats people like “lackluster caterpillars.”
While staying in Melody’s sublet, Anne uncovers a dark mystery about the previous tenant’s death and realizes Melody stole her work. The tension builds perfectly as Anne fights to expose the truth without meeting the same fate.
It's a great, quick read that takes a sharp stab at how fake the influencer world really is. Perfect if you want a quick mystery to read in one sitting!
I give The Sublet 4
I really had a bit of trouble following it. Til the end when it came together than I understood
